This thread started about the statistics use case and moved to authorization questions. Such happens.
I totally agree with Bernd: these are two different things and schacLocalReportingCode should be recommended by us.

As I wrote in one of the first emails in this thread, I wouldn't mix authorization with statistics, because the information required for the statistics might differ from the information required for the authorization. And there already exists a suggestion for a SCHAC attribute for the statistics use case (schacLocalReportingCode).

It's about authorisation, yes. But I think this also relates to giving the SP the ability to build statistics.

I would suggest to do that. Maybe just optional. At least to make awareness of the advances of exchanging attributes like student/staff, faculty, etc. in the right (privacy preserving) way. Whether a library may use it or not. Publishers definitely would like this. Some guidance from this group would be appreciated by publishers I think.
