Conference Submission Request
My name is Bill Nelson and I am interested in speaking and/or training at the upcoming LDAPCon Conference.
I have been architecting and implementing enterprise directory solutions for over 15 years and have experience with Netscape, Sun/Oracle, and most recently ForgeRock. You can find my bio at http://idmdude.com/about/ and my LinkedIn profile at http://www.linkedin.com/in/wnelson. I regularly blog about identity management at idmdude.com and have experience writing directory courseware and delivering directory training for Sun, Oracle, and ForgeRock.
I feel that the fine art of directory design is, for the most part, lost on the current generation of those deploying directory solutions. From proper schema implementation to tree structure design to deploying a global enterprise solution, it seems like rather than being an art/science directory deployments are more of a mystery. When you start working with entries in orders of millions (or even billions as we move towards the IoT) the architecture becomes extremely important and can affect not only data loading, but also data distribution and the manner in which applications interact with the directory.
I can be flexible about my topic but was thinking about best practices, tools, and methodologies for both architecting and working with solutions that involve gargantuan amounts of data. I can perform 45 minute talks or even all day training events - again, I am flexible.
You can find a Webex recording of a presentation I made for Thomson Reuters here: https://tlr.webex.com/tlr/lsr.php?RCID=b17e08042c13b62fee1f81005108cf35. This is just a brief intro, I have 6 other recordings behind this.
Please let me know if you are interested in my speaking at the conference. If you are, then I would ask that you consider covering either all or a portion of my travel costs and hotel accommodations for the conference.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you,
bill
